Seeing the fact that Caribbean stud poker is considered to be a game of the house, the casinos will have a smaller edge. But in most casino games when the favor is given to the house, special strategies exist that can be instated in order to help minimize the edge that the house has and provide players with an opportunity to clear a pretty decent profit.

Before enlightening you with basic strategies to play Caribbean stud poker, let’s first look at some of the factors involved in the game that will influence your game strategy.

-Whenever there are standard rules that are applied, the house generally has an edge of 5.25 over all players within the game.
–Players are not allowed to lie, the dealer must have a hand that consists of A-K or something of a greater value or your hand will be a showdown.

–The dealers hand will be 42% or higher in most circumstances

-One of the dealers cards are in a face up position, this card will provide information pertaining to the dealers hand.

If your hand consists of a pair or something of greater value then you should attempt to raise your bet, however fold with something that is less than an A-K hand. There are some strategies that will cause you to have fold with small pairs and other A-K hands, this boils down to the fact that when you attempt to play your cards you will be likely to win. However, this strategy is considered to be optimal, you may find that there is value when you engage in playing with small pairs. Keep in mind that when you engage in playing with a conservative strategy this does not increase your chances of winning.

There are several arguments that may arise when playing an A-K hand when there are some conditions that may be present.

-If the face up card that a dealer has appears to be an Ace or a King card, you should raise your bet if your hand contains an A-K-Q combination or an A-K-J within your hand. Inadvertently you are prone to contain a better A-K playing hand in opposition to the dealer.

–Raise your bet if the face up card of the dealer appears to be anything between deuces or a Queen card and you also have one of those cards in your hand. The dealer is not likely to have a pair whenever they have these cards due to the philosophy behind the card removal standpoint.

–If the dealers card that is face up is a low card, which would be anything between a deuce or a five card and your hand consists of an A-K-Q you should raise because you are probably ahead of their hand by a lot  and you will also be able to beat the dealers non-qualifying set of cards.

Perhaps the most complex part of the Caribbean stud strategy is playing a hand that is A-K. However, if you can play an A-K hand in a correct manner, then the houses edge will be reduced immensely. By using the above mentioned strategy the houses edge will be lowered by 2.5%.
